G'day All,
In recent months I have installed a new pc and ancillary software to get my ACP/Scheduler system back on line.
The primary usage of this equipment is in photometry, imaging at a focal length of 2500mm, with a FOV of 20 X 30 arcminutes.
My previous system setup achieved a final plate solving for each image at around 80%. This meant that I had to use other software outside of the ACP
platform to try and plate solve the remaining 20% of my images - a bit time consuming.
Anyway, a few months ago I re-read an article by Bob regarding plate solving -

I had been using the GSC catalog for a number of years and decided to download the large ATLAS All-Sky Stellar Reference Catalog.
Since installing this catalog ACP has been solving 99.9% of images. (and any failed image solve I have seen has been due to poor weather rolling in)
So, previously I had just accepted non 100% solving of my images due largely to my relatively small FOV and long focal length,
but with this Atlas catalog its been like chalk and cheese - Again ACP/Scheduler are bullet proof - especially on my new pc hardware!
Again many thanks to Bob and the other great people on this forum for feedback and again Bob's after sales service!!!
cheers, Merv
