Default FocusMax 4 runs in parallel with ACP (waiting is not working)

The object was centered but you would not think so reading the log, just wonder what it is trying to say as it seems confusing

Here is another really odd one as well. It seem to slew to sh2-274 which is at DEC 13, the log shows it plate solved at +30. The image that was taken was the previous object so the scope did not really slew unless it when back. The final plate solve is the correct positon for 274, but that was after the image was taken. I will call this a one time goof

This is a result of FocusMax (V4) running in parallel with ACP!!! It's caused by a bug in FocusMax 4 AcquireStar where it takes a "long time" to indicate that it is busy after telling it to start. ACP thinks it has finished and presses on, causing the two to run in parallel.

I think I pointed this out on some other thread.

I already passed this on to Steve Brady, and the next FocusMax V4 release will have this timing problem fixed.

Meanwhile you can "fix" this by editing AcquireSupport.wsc. Find this code

    Util.WaitForMilliseconds 2000 ' FM 3.2.1 has race condition

and change the 2000 to 10000. 2 seconds is fine for FMx 3 but not for FMX 4. FMX 4 has been fixed so there no need for a delay at all (and this version will be out soon).

I set that a few days ago, I attached last nights log. Should I go up to 20 seconds or does this even matter, just the log has extra junk in it from FM

Try 20 seconds. If that isn't enough then the problem is that FocusMax never indicates that it is busy, which is a serious bug. Steve B says that it has been fixed so look for the next release of FocusMax 4.

That explains what FocusMax was still in the focus mode, stop button was enabled, while ACP was doing a plate solve on the target object. So I suspect 20 sec won't help

Try it. or set it to 60 seconds, giving FocusMax time to complete.

Geeze I didn't want to create that sort of pressure on him. Just up it to 120 seconds and wait, or don't use AcquireStar, till he releases the next version.

oh, I justd asked if he had a beta, not to make one, but I can try longer wait. Does it matter really or does scheduler get confused because it is still running.
