    Default Upgrading ACP license

    Hello,

i currently have ACP basic version 5.0.1 and was considering upgrading to the latest version(v7 when available). What would be the cost for the following two options:

    1) ACP Basic v7
    2) ACP Personal Internet

Also will my current version(5.0.1) install and work on a machine with windows 8 operating system?

    Thanks,
    Richard

Your 5.0.1 will work on Windows 8 if you turn User Account Control off. 5.0 pre-dates the security changes that Microsoft added to Win 7/8 and won't run on those OSes under normal conditions. If you're considering ACP 7.2, I'd suggest waiting to install and doing 7.2 fresh. There are many changes from 5.0 (which is now 7 years old) and it's very possible that the ACP 7.2 installer won't even upgrade you successfully. I don't develop/test the installers going back that far.

See the DC-3 Store, Support and Upgrades page:

    Support and Upgrades:
    • ACP Basic $210
    • ACP Personal Internet $295
    • Upgrade to ACP Expert (gets you Scheduler and support/upgrades for both): $595

Ok thanks for the quick response Bob. I'll take your advice and do a fresh 7.2 install when it's ready. I did have one other question but it's more a technical question about setting up the Domain name server for the ACP Personal Internet License. I'll ask it here but if you want me to post it on the technical question forum just let me know. I was reading through the online documentation procedure(in the quick links section I believe) for activating the HTML and FTP servers in ACP(with all the port forwarding stuff) for the share your sky web browser. There was a comment in there about having to set up a DDNS server to provide a constant domain name when the router IP address is dynamic. But the documentation seemed to stop just short of going through the process of "Registering the Domain Name". There was a TBD in that section of the instructions. Not sure if I'm looking in the right place for the documentation. If not, could you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks again,
    Richard

I do it for you. Pick the name in the my-sky.com domain. If you have a dynamic address on the public side (typically cable DSL) then you run the little DUC program set to run at startup. That's it. That part is described in ACP Help. You do not need your own DNS server ha ha :-)
