ACP opens a 2nd instance of Maxim DL

Whan I open Maxim DL, connect to camera. I open ACP and connect camera it opens another Maxim DL and tries to connect which of course fails

My registry must be screwed up and all I can do now is a system restore which kills acp

anything else to try.

If I don't open Maxim and use connect camera from ACP, Maxim opens and all is ok. But when I open focus max and connect same problem.

I don't know what these programs look for and cannot find so it opens Maxim DL. There needs to be an option to connect but dont try to open program I guess

How the heck did that happen??? That's a new one on me. Have you contacted Diffraction for help? I might be able to see what's going on, somehow the Windows Object (COM) registration for MaxIm has become scrambled. If you can hang till I can call, and it can be daytime, I'll try to help. But a call or Support Ticket to Diffraction might yield better results.

One thing to try would be to run the MaxIm DL installer for repair.

not sure how that happen, that's fine I can use something else. I will upgrade software again, not worth it. I am going to have to set up a second computer that I can test software before I ruin the setup

I don't quite understand your last. Did this happen when upgrading some software? What software? MaxIm? Let me know if I can help.

I updated FM 4, the first version everything was fine, the update is when it broke. I dont why a second instance opens, but since it does, camera won't connect

Steve is being awesome in helping me with FM 4, but not there yet. He is looking at a few things
well I clean the registry and reinstalled Maxim 6, FM 4, and ACP. Before FM4 Maxim 6 was running find. Something in the installer screws up the registery. I really wish I could run the installer as admin. Some install packages need that to write to the registry as expected. Not sure if that is the issue or not. I can't run ACP tonight because any software that connects the camera opens Maxim DL regardless if the software is open. But I use FM 4 tonight with Maxim DL 6, just no automation

I fix the problem by setting everything to open as administrator, everything works now

OK, so there was a mixture of programs on your systems some running admin some not. Programs that are running as admin live in a separate world, and therefore you were seeing the activities in these two worlds. Please pardon me and don't take this personally (!!!) but since this is public and I do not want to have to deal with the headaches caused by people playing around with admin mode:
