    Default Autofocus Failure

Last night I had an imaging run where the autofocus failed and ACP told me to check the Focusmax log. The FM log said that it couldn't get the image from the CCD. One thing I've noticed lateley with Focusmax is that it won't save my selection for Maxim DL. I have to select it every time I start it so I leave it running. I did leave the focuser connected so I'm disconnecting the focuser from it while leaving it running. Any ideas? thanks.

Are you running anything as Administrator? If so this can cause all sorts of strangeness including settings going into different places. Just a wild guess.

I don't think so Bob. I installed ASCOM 6.1 and the latest version of Focusmax and if the clouds cooperate, test it again tonight.

Tried to run a plan tonight and the focuser wouldn't connect. I just wanted to get some clarification on a couple of things if anyone can help. When I start Focusmax it doesn't have Maxim DL or CCDSoft buttons selected under the system tab. I select Maxim but if I close it it won't save the selection even though I save the profile. Other thing I was wondering is if everyone keeps Focusmax running all the time and also do you keep the focuser connected in the system tab? I used to be able to let ACP open Focusmax without it running and occasionally it wouldn't start so I decided to leave it running but I'm wondering if I have a setting somewhere wrong or something now. My guess is that Focusmax is not talking to ACP for some reason.

The "non-sticly" settings is a function of not being able to save things in the "System file". Where is the system file? Maybe you should save it to My Documents\MySystem.ini. Maybe it is in an inaccessible place for non-administrators (left over from running it as admin some time in the past).

It's a good idea to start FMx up at the beginning of the night rather than having it start/stop all night.
