Default Problem using PinPoint in scripts

I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure I've posted this correctly!

I downloaded the demo version of PinPoint yesterday. The VisualPinPoint application works fine and solves images correctly, so on the face of it the installation went OK. But then I wrote a VBScript program to solve an image. When the script called CreateObject("PinPoint.Plate"), I got an error message saying "ActiveX component can't create object: 'PinPoint.Plate'.

I checked the registry and found an entry for PinPoint.Plate, so I assume that PinPoint was registered correctly. I tried reinstalling PinPoint, but it didn't help. I have MaxIm DL installed, so I suppose that PinPoint LE could be getting in the way; but I haven't tried to uninstall it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm moving this to the pre-sales section since your support is expired. This has nothing to do with SkySolve, John Winfield's amazing all-sky plate solving program.

I answered this via my personal email box in which I also had a message from you. You are on a 64-bit system trying to run scripts in a 64-bit shell for PinPoint which is a 32-bit component. See my email for details.

    Bob,

I am having a similar problem. If it is possible for you to forward the fix to me, it would be appreciated.

Michael, there isn't a fix, it involved needing to run a 32.bit shell (C:\Windows\syswow64\cmd.exe) when running scripts taht use PinPoint objects. Is this enough info?

I'm trying to interact with pinpoint from a 64-bit Matlab instance. I also cannot run scripts from 64-bit Excel. Is there a way to do this?

No, unfortunately PinPoint is a 32-bit Windows component. I have no short-term plans to produce a 64-bit one, sorry.
