Default Getting Filter Information from MaxIm

    I have ACP V6 build 7 Hotfix May 2011 and Planner V4.2.6.
When I go to preferences in Planner to get my filter information from MaxIm, the area is greyed out.
I can't select the "Get filters from MaxIM", nor can I enter filters manually.

    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

You need to be connected to the camera (it's turned on and connected in ACP) in order to retrieve MaxIm filter IDs. Also you can't have any active plan in work.

    Hi Dick,

    Thanks for your reply.
I have the camera connected, and there are no plans active.
    Thanks

Hover your mouse over that grayed out area. Does it say "Filters cannot be changed because there are presets that depend on them"? If so, remove the preset(s) and try again.

Dick -- Actually Planner should start MaxIm as needed, connect, grab the filter info, then disconnect (allowing MaxIm to disappear on its own). ACP is certainly not needed, Planner is designed to run on any system whether ACP is there or not :-))

    I noticed this as well....

What about users who have Planner installed on a computer other than the observatory computer? For example, I also have TheSkyX and Planner installed on my laptop, which I take with me. Do I need to enter the filter names manually?

Also that reminds me, on the web interface, when I look at "Instruments and Equipment" I have three filters that have a hyperlink: "The item 'H-Alpha' doesn't exist. You can create it in the Share Your Sky! authoring environment." Could this be related? And I'm not sure exactly how to fix this issue.....

    Yes.

Ignore the hyperlinks for now, they are cosmetic flaws. Just get going so you can observe. I can explain.

I'd also recommend not using Planner till you start doing multiple target automation. For single targets, use the forms on the web UI.
