    Default Parking ME Mount

I have found that forgetting to park the ME mount ends up with a trip to the observatory due to error 2007(7d7) which apparently means the mount has hit a hardware or software limit. How do people with an ME use an ACP plan to park their scopes?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve --

Normally, ACP just calls the TheSky Driver's Park() function, which just calls TheSKy's "scripted operation" Park() function, and the scope goes to its park or home position then disconnects. I've personally done this on probably a dozen Paramounts, and more people do it routinely with ACP or whatever else. Can you park it from TheSky? If so, then the Park() function in the driver does the same thing (via TheSky's Park() function).

    Hey Bob,

Yes, the park position was setup in the beginning and does work properly when I request TheSky 6 to park. I may be having a brain stall here but where am I telling ACP to park the scope. Wait a minute, this is in the "#shutdown ; Shut down the observatory" or "#shutdownat" at the end of the script?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Right. There is also a Park item on ACP's Telescope menu.

Gotta be one of those "Read the manual" moments! I do this all the time in my home observatory but then I have a much clearer idea of what an AP mount can do vs. the ME. Sorry for the bother Bob.

The problem happened when there was some use of the telescope and no plan was being used. Simply going from object to object and the mount not being parked. This left the ME to continue to track into it's hardware limits which requires someone be on-site to use the hand paddle to home the mount taking it out of the hardware limits. I can't seem to find another means that can be done remotely as you can not connect to the mount, you get 2007(7d7) error from TheSky.

Anyway, yes, this is how I do use my AP1200 so no change there. I just don't have hardware limits to keep me from connecting to my AP mount.

    Thanks Again,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

While I don't have a Bisque Mount, I am curious about this problem and what the solutions for it actually are. If I am understanding you, once the ME hits a "hardware stop" it requires local intervention to resolve the problem ? And if this is the case - What is the intervention ? What is done to solve it ? My guess is that cycling the power to the mount *should* resolve it ? and then via TheSky you can request a HOME ?

    Regards

    Bill

    Steve,
I run my ME remote in NM and have hit the hard stop twice. Both times I just cycled the power (remote switch) and homed the mount. Up and running in just a couple minuets. No local intervention required, just FYI.
