    Bob,

While it would be nice to have a clear root cause, I am satisfied with the patch that serves as a band aid.

Thanks for the tip to watch the Heavy launch. It was awesome!

I'm just committing the change to remove the call to RemoveGradient() from both AcquireScheduler and ACP's AcquireSupport. I finally tried to just "cut in" a few of your failed images just before feeding to the "preview image beautification" code and I still couldn't repro the problem. Sigh.

Pragmatic solution. Have a look at the thread on the MaxIm forum for some real craziness :-)

Thanks for your help. It will be in the next release.

    Thanks, Bob.

I appreciate your responsive support. I am imaging an exoplanet transit tonight, and so far, looking good.

You were a great help with the log files and images. A huge help. Trying to get context for problem solving can be a real challenge. You hit it perfect!

A comment from the other guy having problem.

    1. I have done a new installation of Windows 11, because I had other problems. This time I use an american Windows installation, before I had a swedish Windows 11 professional that i changed to US english number and date.
    2. I noted that there is a new MDL 7.1.1 that I installed

Will test drive as son as the sky is clear. For now it is a blizzard with a lot of snow.

OK, and if you run into the problem, make the one-line patch to AcquireScheduler.vbs. It will be in the next release of ACP Expert.

    Lightbulb

    Update.

I have now after some quirks, updated my Windows with an US english version. ( I had some idea that this would solve some problem with US software )

Efter running some nights with MDL 6.5 I decided to try MDL 7.1.1 and received the same problem I had earlier. I.e. Crash after "Removegradient". Now I have commented that line

I havent seen any responce from Difraction limited but I just found out that there is a new version of the MDL 7.1.2 I try that one and se if it works better.

Btw: Is there someway I could check this with a script and some images??

    Regards

    Niklas

Niklas -- I had Georege Iwaszek send me several original images that failed, then set up a test script to do all of the steps for preview creation (in case it was the order of steps) and they did not fail here. I was trying to put together a package for Diffraction to duplicate the error because they were unable to see it as well. My simple solution for the next release is to just skip that step! It's just a preview anyway.

Yes, for most it won't be noticeable. Engineering solution. "It's good enough"
