Hi Bob.
Thanks for posting the link to this video, an interesting and concise overview of the history and evolution of CCD and CMOS technology.
I found of particular interest the description of the built-in double-read of CMOS pixels in the latest CMOS sensors, once with accumulated photon electrons after exposure and a second read after the pixel well was read and flushed, followed by a subtraction of the two values to remove read noise before the pixel values are written to file (basically an automatic BIAS subtraction), explains why the noise levels are so low in the resulting image from these sensors.

Ohhhhh that's interesting! I didn't put together the fast that is provides an automatic bias subtraction. That's likely related to the the concern that Bruce McMath and his colleague were working on when trying to get their images calibrated.
