ASCOM Question: Controlling 2 identical devices thru ASCOM

I'm surprised that none of the above responses surprised me. But I am grateful for them so thank you all.
I conclude it is time for me to stop running from Alpaca. But that is what I have been doing. For example Pegasus has a new control software (called "Unity Software") that manages all their devices and incorporates into the software the usage of RestAPIs. Optec provides Alpaca drivers for the Flatman panels. I have run from them rather than playing around with them. Mostly it is because that while I conceptual "get" Alpaca I don't quite know how to incorporate Alpaca lines into my current existing startup and shutdown scripts. Is there an example in the form of a samplestartupobs.js?????? Or is even the question silly?
