    Default All Sky Camera Recommendations

It looks like my old SBIG All Sky 340 has died at my remote observatory and I need to replace it. It hasn't been manufactured in years, so we need to go another direction. Anyone have a recommendation on what we could purchase that will easily integrate with ACP?

Any camera that is supported by MaxIm DL, including any ASCOM-compatible camera as well as some other non-standard ones for which special MaxIm plugins exist. I can't make recommendations but anyone else feel free.....

    Bob,

This isn't a telescope camera but one that photographs the entire sky that is placed outside the observatory so we can see sky conditions. I'm not looking to tie it into MaxIm DL, just take images of the ambient sky every 5 minutes. The SBIG All Sky 340 has been a staple for a long time and not sure what people are using now that it's obsolete/not made anymore.

Ah, OK. I'll move this to the General section since it's not related to ACP. Thanks for the clarification.

I use ASI178MC for my self made All-Sky. Works fine, I'll attach an image. I run it bin 2 to save some space on the SD card everything runs on.

    Best regards

You made this yourself? That’s excellent.

    Thank You

I use a Nvidia Jetson computer running a phyton program I got from, and slightly modified, the astronomer Eric Stempels at Upsala university. So the work from my site was merely to get the things together and make a enclosure that is reasonably heated for the winter in Sweden.

I plan to change the computer to a Raspberry Pi when it is possible to get my hands on one of them. The Jetson is a bit of overkill and produces to much heat during the warm season.

Ah, thanks for that info. There are many Raspberry Pi "clones" out there but none are like the real thing. They are being hoarded by scalpers unfortunately.
