On Sunday March 20 at 2000 UTC/GMT, the ASCOM Core Team will hold a live online meeting which is open to anyone wishing to attend. We will start with an introduction then three short video presentations:
- ASCOM & Alpaca concepts and direction (Bob Denny)
- Demonstration of the cross-platform Alpaca Omni-Simulators package (Daniel Van Noord)
- Demonstration of the cross-platform Conform Universal and Test tool (Peter Simpson)
Following these presentations will be an open question and answer session. Questions will be taken via the meeting chat stream with most participants' own audio and video muted. If we are discussing a question or point, the requester will be brought into the conversation, along with others who "raise their hand".
Our purpose is to help people understand the role and functioning of ASCOM (both COM and Alpaca) and to help clear misconceptions. Please note that we will not be providing technical support during this meeting. Support issues need to go to the relevant device or app vendor, or to the ASCOM Talk Help forum. Also we won't be discussing changes to the existing protocols or interface contracts. Those discussions are for the ASCOM Talk Developer's Forum. Finally, we are not going to discuss how Alpaca’s interconnection standard compares to other approaches such as INDI or IoT. Thanks for understanding.
