Hi,

I am planning to buy ACP for running a robotic observatory at my university.

1) Can ACP run simultaneously 2 filter wheels? I have a 7 slot filter wheel equipped with broad and narrow band filters, and I would like to add a second filter wheel with a dark filter.

2) Can ACP be installed on two computers with a single license? The reason is to have ACP on a computer running the observatory and on a spare computer for test and for quick computer switch if the main computer fails.

3) What is the cost of the commercial version of ACP? The university observatory would be open for free to academic institutes (elementary school to university) and underprivileged people, but for wealthy people, we may ask a small contribution for the observation time to operate, maintain and expand our observatory.

Thanks for taking an interest in ACP. I’ll answer your tech questions here. Please contact our sales people for your possible commercial usage. For now get the Educational license.

1. If you can configure your dual filter wheel so that, when used with MaxIm DL, it appears to be one wheel with all slots available and in order with no gaps, then yes. The FLI dual filter wheel can be configured like that. I am guessing that you have a camera with no shutter and thus need a “dark” filter, right? MaxIm can’t control two filter wheels and ACP uses MaxIm’s programming interface to talk to the filters.

2. Yes you can install ACP on a “live” system and a test/spare one.

I was thinking of the FLI dual filter wheel, but I already have Optolong mounted 2" filter and mounted filter are not compatible.
