Geoff,
Thanks for the pointer. Lots of interesting discussion there! There are no new G__gle Images of my observatory, which was only built two years ago, so I wonder what that means for their site verification... It may explain the long wait some observers encounter. The most recent image over my site was a year earlier.
I can afford to wait since I'm collecting a lot of images of snowflakes these days.

Geoff: Good to know. Thanks.
But I've long since moved on to other work, so I will be e-mailing MPC to withdraw my last year's request for observatory code. [EDIT: cancellation e-mail sent]

An odd but positive update on my mini-saga:
After applying for a code for our site with > 30 telescopes but hearing nothing for over a year, and after I then withdrew the code application, all of a sudden I stumble across it in the updated code list: it's V28.
Well, all right then!--my scope is booked tonight, but I'll take a few recovery images tomorrow night, report findings in the usual format, and see what happens.
Those of you still waiting for codes but getting no MPC response might want to search the list by (part of) your submitted site name, too. I found my new code via http://vo.imcce.fr/webservices/data/...AUObsCodes.php, but it's confirmed at MPC https://minorplanetcenter.net/iau/lists/ObsCodesF.html .
Color me smiling but baffled (how I go through most of life).

Dear Smiling but Baffled in New Mexico,
Congratulations! Lucky for you you persisted. No luck for me yet, however. I will keep the link at hand and periodically browse the bottom of the list.

Well, this will actually be my 2nd code (3rd if you count the club 27" I did my MP recoveries from 2011-2013), and this one is a site code, not really my own per se, but thanks!

Mine is a really old one from the early days of ACP when it was originally designed for asteroid hunting.
