Last Friday night (03-Mar-2018) we attended the First Light Celebration of the new Mary Reagan Observatory at the College of the Desert, Thermal, CA. This is the largest telescope yet made by Planewave Instruments, and runs ACP Expert to provide remote usage in the classrooms and at students' homes. Like the Great Basin Observatory and others, this observatory is 100% remotely operated via ACP Expert's unique web/mobile services. The observatory was engineered and built by Paul Gardner's Observatory Systems in partnership Sea West Enterprises, the same team that built the Great Basin Observatory, another 100% remote ACP Expert controlled facility which has been successfully operating since August 2016. Here are a few photos and a cool video (at the end) of the celebration and the observatory. In the first photo, the white t-shirts are for the astronomy club of the College. You can see Stevie and me in the first photo too. Drone photo and video by Johathan Gorges are used with permission.
