Bob,
I am running a SX AO unit. I have calibrated according to your instruction manual, and checked all the settings.
The AO bump activation level is set to 20%. My understanding is that the AO unit should be bumped when the AO tilt deviates from 50% by more than 10%, i.e. when it reaches 40% or 60%. However, that is not what happens. If the tilt starts to exceed the set limits, no correction signal seems to be issued, so the tilt just continues to increase or decrease beyond the limit. Eventually, this causes a "star fade" message to be issued and guiding stops being effective.
I have set the auto guider output in Maxim to "ASCOM Direct", which I understand to be correct.
What I think should happen is that a bump signal should start to be issued immediately as soon as the tilt limit is exceeded, and continue to be issued until the tilt level is back within the set limit. In fact, I believe that this was what happened in the past before I had to re-install the whole system after a major crash. But now I can't get it to work correctly.
Any suggestions?
Stephen
