I just upgraded to the newly-released Ascom 5 platform. Now
StarryNight Pro Plus 6.2.1 does not recognize that there is a valid
plugin installed for scope control. In the Plugins folder, the
AscomScope.plug is still there. Other Ascom-compliant programs seem to
work just fine. Is there an issue with the new Ascom platform and SNP?"


I didn't look into this. I don't have v6. Thought you should know about this, though.

How well I know. I got hosed by it too. It was the QuickTime 7.4 update. Not only did the telescope control get broken, but so did many other things. There are about 5 threads related to it (including the All Sky Broken one!). The only way out is to completely remove QT 7.4, zap the ProgFiles\QuickTime folder, run a thorough registry cleaner (e.g. Registry Mechanic), then install QT 7.3.1. After that, everything comes back. Check out the SNP group for the various threads including that one, which thankfully, was cleared by a post from Geoff of Imaginova support, pointing to the QT 7.4 update as the culprit.

What version is "doable" for SNP 6.3.9 ?

This problem is really old and is not the issue you're having. They quickly fixed Starry Night back in early 2008 for this problem and there have been several StarryNight updates since then.

I'll try to help you when I get back in the office next week.
