Dark/Bias run only
When the weather is poor I want to let ACP do a dark/bias run only overnight.
I dont want the obsy open so the obsy and mount are powered down. However ACP insists that the telescope is connected (ME via TheSky) and I am fearful that ACP will try and slew somewhere with the roof shut (with catestrophic results).
Is there a way of running a dark script without ACP needing to be connected to the Telescope? The only way around it I can see is to select the Simulator as the telescope - not very elegant.

No there is not a way to start a plan without the telescope connected. I'm sorry about that. Your approach is definitely the safest.

Hi Roger,
I've been running darks and biases overnight on occasion for a long time and never had a problem with a slew. There is no slewing required for dark and bias images. Here's a plan I've used. It shuts down the telescope at the end - which parks the scope. You can try a very small plan, one image of each, and in a short period of time demonstrate for yourself how the telescope will behave. But, of course, you have to also settle your own mind.
Code:
;
; --------------------------------------
;
; --------------------------------------
;
; Targets: long darks and many biases, for cloudy nights
; Start: 15-Apr-08 15:40:00 (local)
; Imaging: 7.5 hours or so
;
; ---------------------------------------------
;
;
; do dark and biases
;
;
#count 5,5,5
#interval 900,900,900
#binning 1,2,3
#dark
;
#count 11,11,11
#interval 120,120,120
#binning 1,2,3
#dark
;
#count 11,11,11
#interval 30,30,30
#binning 1,2,3
#dark
;
#count 31,31,31
#interval 0,0,0
#binning 1,2,3
#bias
;
; end this plan
;
#shutdown

Thanks Bob & Dick
Well I chickened out and set teh Simulator rather than risk lifting the obsy roof with my nice new OO AG16!!!

You can't be any safer or have more peace of mind than this!
