Gain Settings - QSI Camera

I use two imaging cameras in two different setups. One is an FLI ML16803. The other is a QSI583wsg. Having the download options settings for the FLI is great. The two gain settings for the QSI are high gain for unbinned and low gain for binned images. The gain settings have been implemented in Maxim XL using the field for speed. When running an ACP plan is there a way to change the gain setting for the QSI camera when the plan calls for a change in binning? I guess I could run multiple plans with each plan consisting of like binned images.

No there is not a way to script the gain from outside of MaxIm. However, I talked with Kevin at QSI about this last year and he agreed that the separate gain adjustment should not be needed for astronomical applications. I believe that their latest drivers automatically adjust the gain based on the selected binning, making this manual procedure unnecessary. Check with QSI and see, or just download and install their latest drivers (look at the release notes, they are careful to note changes there).

Bob thanks for your reply. I was not aware that QSI had Auto Gain in a software update. I confirmed this with Kevin and will give it try. Apparently it is in Beta currently but according to all reports works well.

You're welcome! The people at QSI are great.

I think Robert Wahlström made a fix so that the QSI gain-modes are automaticly set correctly depending on if you are imaging binned or unbinned

Jonas -- This is also now a standard feature of the astronomical drivers for QSI. Did you see the video of me being slinged???
